Training has been in full swing in all three communities and numbers are increasing. Our Lwandle boys had a match against another NGO which was a nice social game, due to other oher team not having enough numbers we mixed up the teams. We also supported a touch rugby event in Macassar on youth day, where our boys came second.
Holiday Club
During the July holidays we ran a two day Holiday Club. On both days we ran the same activities, but Tuesday was boys only and Wednesday girls only as we wanted them to get a good opportunity to build better cross community relationships with fellow peers. As always we had a topic and new games to introduce the young people to.
The topic was about FOCUS and we named the teams with animals and insects that have unique focus capacities. We had team building games, volleyball and badminton that was new for most, along with netball, touch rugby and soccer. We had 48 young people over all, it was really a few good and fun days!
We also had the great opportunity to send 8 of our young people to camps hosted by SCAS in Stellenbosch and we had 4 young people to a tennis camp in Stellenbosch. For many of our young people this was the first time that they got to stay away from home and it gave them exposure to new people, cultures and sports. Which we believe is very important for their life long development.
