Last week all of the communities took part in competitive games. Lwandle Seniors played against a local team from Chris Nissen Park, while the Juniors played against Sir Lowry’s Pass. Macassar and Sir Lowry’s Pass played both Netball and Rugby against each other (the above picture is Macassar v Sir Lowry’s Pass intermediate teams).
The focus of the games was to apply the Lifeskill Perseverance to a game situation. Many of the boys and girls demonstrated this even when they were losing. These games also provide an opportunity to build understanding and friendships across cultures, which is incredibly important in South Africa.
