The ground is hard and the Rugby season is over, so the Helderberg Academy has launched Cricket sessions for the month of November. Last week, many young people had their first experience of Cricket as we taught them how to bowl, bat and field in the sunshine of the Western Cape.
This month we are looking at our identity and learning a new sport enables the children to challenge themselves and build their self-esteem by trying something new. Some of the boys already had experience of playing Cricket, whilst others had to overcome their fear of failure to even attempt engaging in these new sessions. Last week the sessions went extremely well, so we look forward to teaching some variations in bowling and new batting shots this week.
