Last week, Beth, Dave and Matt visited Drakenstein Prison to see the work that Ambassadors Football is doing with the inmates. Drakenstein Prison (formerly Victor Verster Prison) was the place where Nelson Madela walked to his freedom over 20 years ago.
Ambassadors Football work tirelessly with a small group of prisoners, teaching them lifeskills through sport and working to provide them with a better future. Many prisoners re-offend when they are released but those involved in this scheme are much more likely to make the most of their freedom and be a positive influence within their communities.
The coaches learnt a huge amount from this experience and will work hard to ensure that every young person who attends the Helderberg Academy receives the same vital life skills that will ensure they make the most of their future.
